The year in real estate
2024 brought some significant changes to the real estate landscape. With new legislation introduced to improve housing affordability and tenant protections, we navigated updates such as limits on rent increases, revised eviction grounds, and mandatory property maintenance standards for landlords.
Despite these changes, the property market continued to thrive. Our team noticed some standout trends:

The RBA cash rate held steady at 4.35% since November 2023.

Rental prices increased moderately, with our most affordable rental increasing from $510 per week a year ago to $580 today (not the same property)

Population growth remained strong, with predictions for continued growth

The median sales price on the Gold Coast reached $1.17m in December, up from $1.03m in January 2024
