Great Strides 2021 Is Another Success

Great Strides 2021

After having to cancel our September 2020 event due to Covid, we scored yet another stunning morning on Sunday with blue skies and warm sunshine for our March 2021 beach walk.

A refreshing change from the consistent days of torrential rain we had the week leading up to our event with enough time for the ground to dry out.

With over 100 registered walkers in attendance we hit a record amount for this event with $9354.00 raised for Cystic Fibrosis QLD!

Quite a few new faces and people in the area joining the fun but mostly families that turn up every year to support our event which is so great to see. Some wonderful raffle prizes donated by the community this year including a hamper from Angie Bell MP which meant raffle tickets were totally sold out! A few people taking home some goodies, including the winner of the glorious big wheelbarrow!

A very big thank you is in order for Sarah-Jayne Curry who is the Community Fundraising Coordinator for CF Qld! Sarah is new to the CF team and did a brilliant job reaching out to the CF community and getting people involved and fundraising for the event. Not to mention a huge help in planning and executing this event on the day you were such a pleasure to work with! Well done Sarah! J

Thank you to all of the wonderful LJ Hooker Nerang volunteers and their helpful partners who volunteered their time arriving at 6.30am on a SUNDAY to help set everything up, and continue throughout the day helping serve on the BBQ ! Amy Hewitt and Nerang RSL deserves a round of applause for allowing us to borrow their convenient BBQ trailer & cold room set up (year after year after year), making the sausage sizzle a breeze! Not to mention donating many loaves of bread and bulk kilos of sausages for our BBQ which is always very much appreciated!

A huge thank you to the businesses that donated some fantastic items for our raffle Aquaduck Tours Gold Coast, KDV Sport, Angie Bell MP and LJ Hooker Nerang. Thank you also to Miles & Natasha at Besito Coffee, Gold Coast Drumline Corp, Mr Twirly (Bret & Christine Hopley), Cool Banana’s Entertainment for helping create atmosphere and contribution to the day’s success.

Lastly, thank you to Shane Colquhoun, principal of LJ Hooker Nerang for donating all of the bread rolls, eggs, bacon, sauces, cleaning products and cold drinks etc for the BBQ - all proceeds donated to CFQ!

Again, thank you so very much to everyone who donated time, goods or services on the day. Without the help of each of you, the event could not have been as great of a success as it was. We’re really looking forward to making the event bigger & better next year and hope that you’d all like to be involved again.
