Leading Queensland Group takes LJ Hooker up the mountain
LJ Hooker Solutions Gold Coast has expanded its footprint in the city’s north, taking the brand to the hinterland lifestyle market of Tamborine Mountain.
LJ Hooker Solutions Gold Coast purchased the rent roll of First National Tamborine Mountain with agent couple Blake and Fleur Wallis also joining LJ Hooker in the acquisition.
The expansion was the culmination of a 20-year relationship between LJ Hooker Solutions Gold Coast Director Shane Colquhoun and former First National Principal Kate Wallis.
“I’d known Kate from my time at First National 20 years ago,” said Mr Colquhoun.
“Kate had been looking to wind down from work and she had confidence that the business she’d built-up – which includes her son Blake and Fleur – would continue to thrive within the LJ Hooker Solutions Gold Coast network.”
The new office will specifically join the Group’s northern offices, creating the LJ Hooker Ormeau | Coomera | Tamborine Mountain team, led by Director Nicole Hintz and General Manager Scott Hughes.
Tamborine Mountain is part of the ‘green behind the gold’ of the Gold Coast. It boasts cafés, galleries and a tourism industry that celebrates its rainforests and national parks, while still only being a 45-minute drive from Gold Coast beaches.
Large allotments are strewn through its quiet streets with rural lifestyle properties dotted throughout the mountain and its foothills.
Its popularity has soared in the wake of COVID-19, with its proximity to the Gold Coast, Logan and Brisbane proving popular amongst buyers who have secured flexible work arrangements.
According to CoreLogic, the median house price for Tamborine Mountain rose to $900,000 at the end of July, representing a 29.1% increase over the last 12 months, and 57.9% over the last three years.
Mr Wallis said he was excited to offer local sellers the increased opportunities of LJ Hooker Solutions Gold Coast.
“My mum first started the business two decades ago and since then we’ve sold homes in every street on Tamborine – multiple times over,” he said.
“LJ Hooker has always been a brand I’ve liked. It has strong recognition and family values – which we’ve always been about in our business - and the Tamborine Mountain market will respond to that.
“On Tamborine Mountain, the real estate market is made up of small teams. Myself and Fleur will still offer clients our local knowledge, strategies and connections, but we’ll now be able to tap into the greater resources of a seven-office network. We’ll have greater support and opportunities to cross-sell our sellers’ properties across a wider network.”
LJ Hooker General Manager - Network Stephen Mutton said the commitment by Mr Colquhoun and Mrs Hintz reaffirmed the brand the leader in the arc between the Gold Coast’s western and northern corridors.
“Tamborine Mountain has always been a sought-after lifestyle market, but it’s come into even sharper focus amongst buyers over the last two years,” said Mr Mutton.
“With the support of LJ Hooker Solutions Gold Coast, Tamborine Mountain’s sellers and landlords will be treated to a greater level of service and results through Shane’s and Nicole’s commitment.”
The office’s 100-strong rent roll will be managed by the LJ Hooker Solutions Gold Coast’s award-winning property management division.
